Employment law seminar set for Ascension employers

 

BATON ROUGE – Employers in the Ascension Parish area will hear about changes in federal and state labor law that can affect their bottom line from Department of Labor staff attorney Robert Roux at an upcoming business seminar.

The labor department’s Gonzales Job and Career Center is hosting a Business Advisory Council (BAC) meeting Tuesday, February 21 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., where Roux will be the guest speaker. He will discuss employment law and will be available to answer employer questions. Businesses and organizations on the council include Southland Fire & Safety, GSA Engineers, Neese Industries, United Community Bank, Acadian Waste Disposal Service, Remax First, Pearce Foundry, Quad Area Community Action Agency, Hebert Steel, C.E.B.S. (The Miller Group), Waffle House, Ascension Hotels, Ascension Parish Economic Development, Ascension Chamber of Commerce, River Parish Community College and Louisiana Rehabilitation Services.

The council sponsors seminars that address the needs of the business community.

Definition:

Title I of the ADA designates the EEOC as the federal agency primarily responsible for investigating individual charges of discrimination under the Act.
